House Palm

Vienna has a Palmhouse — you can have a House Palm. Referencing the art nouveau Palmhouse in the Schönbrunn Gardens, the sculptural shelf takes a graphic, stylised approach.

Reminiscent of how a child may draw a palm tree stem, the House Palm uses geometric cones as a stackable object, each acting as a basin for storing objects. Partially hidden yet partially visible, the shelf transforms a mess into a sculptural display of items, seemingly coming more to life as more objects spill over the formed edges.

The cones are made of thick Tuscan leather, which offers a certain flexibility while remaining durable and strong. The movement within the leather creates an organic effect once items are stored within, as it moulds and conforms to the object within and juxtaposes the rigid sculptural appeal.

As a shelf with ample storage and configuration abilities, the House Palm can transform its use case to whichever needs attention. Filled with wine bottles as a wine shelf, scarves and gloves in the entryway, or books and blankets in the living room, its bold expressive form adds a striking identity into any home.
